About
An independent tool site, built for accuracy
MotorBench makes free, accurate calculators for drivers and car enthusiasts. No sign-ups, no guesswork dressed up as answers — just the real arithmetic, with the method shown.
What we are
MotorBench is an independent UK website. We're not a manufacturer, a dealer, or a blog chasing a personality — our authority is meant to live in one place only: the tools being right. Every calculator is built from published, standard formulae, shows how it reaches its answer, and states its assumptions plainly.
How the tools are worked out
Each tool is derived from first principles, not copied from another site. For example, the tyre size & speedometer calculator reads the standard ISO tyre marking (section width, aspect ratio, rim diameter), computes each tyre's overall rolling diameter, and from that derives circumference, revs per mile, ride-height change and speedometer error directly. The maths is visible on the page, and the result updates as you change the inputs — there's no hidden lookup table.
Our principles
- Show the working. Every tool explains its method so you can trust (and check) the answer.
- Honest about limits. Real-world figures vary with load, pressure, temperature and wear. We say so rather than implying false precision.
- No walls. You never register or pay to get a result.
- Genuinely independent. We're not affiliated with any tyre or vehicle manufacturer.
- Clean advertising. The site is supported by display ads, but we deliberately do not carry finance, insurance, loan, leasing or gambling advertising.
Accuracy & corrections
Accuracy is the entire point of this site. If a figure ever looks wrong to you, tell us — we'll re-check the maths and fix it quickly. Tools are revised as standards and data change, and significant fixes are noted on the relevant page.
